Uncle Earl's Hog Dog Trials

The annual "Uncle Earl's" Hog Dog Trials are held the fourth full weekend of March. The heritage of hog hunting is a traditional sport in Winn Parish and a lot of times it wasn't done for the fun of it. It meant meat on the table and often times still does. We have families in Winn Parish who have been hunting hogs on the same land for generations.
Earl Long was an avid hog hunter and Winnfield has kept this legacy alive. The Hog Dog Trials are the world's largest and have been coined as the "Super Bowl" of hog dog baying. This sport is part of our heritage in Louisiana. The folks of Winn Parish enjoy life, and our visitors are always among friends when they come to Winnfield for "Uncle Earls Hog Dog Trials."

Uncle Earls Youth Scholarship

The Winn Hog Hunters Association has a profound interest in the development and well being of those young people involved in Hog Hunting. Three individuals will be qualified each year for scholarship recognition. Funds that are donated for the express purpose of funding the scholarship and the entry fee of the junior baying support this worthy endeavor for the young Hog Hunters. This fund varies from year to year, consequently, scholarship value will vary accordingly. The Winn Hog Hunters are always on the look out for new contributors for this admirable cause.
